As a Water Safety Assistant, you will assist our Water Safety Instructors during community swim lessons!
Position Duties:
- Complete attendance as needed
- Lead warm-up and other activities under the supervision of the instructor
- Assist the instructor with the demonstration of skills and other duties
- Communicate effectively with students.
- Assist with the setup of class equipment daily as needed
- Assist with evaluating students at the end of each session to recommend
- advancement
- Follow all aquatic safety procedures and notify the supervisor of any safety
- concerns
- Complete all training and in-services required
Position Qualifications:
- Current Red Cross Water Safety Assistant (WSA) certificate.
- Must be at least 14 years old
- Previous experience with swimming is desired
- Ability to assist students in the water
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents, students, co-workers, and supervisors
- Ability to follow directions and follow through on tasks.
Schedule:
- 3 to 10 hours per week (between 4:30 and 8:00 pm)
- Days of work per week - Monday, Tuesday, Saturday
Salary:
- Starting at $14.00 per hour with a WSA Certification or a record of completing a Red Cross WSA course.

The Inclusion Specialist serves as a member of the Extended School Services team. The position is responsible for the intake, placement and continuous support for students who require additional accommodations and/or support to be successful within the Extended School Services programs. The Inclusion Specialist collaborates with students, families, program staff and district staff to ensure the needs of each student are met. This position is within the Community Education Department and is year round.

WHAT YOU’LL BE WORKING ON:
-
- Ensure Extended School Services programs maintain compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 Rehabilitation Act regarding the accommodation of the individuals with identified inclusion need.
- Review and gather registration information to identify situations that need further review of IEP’s, 504 Plans and other clarifying information.
- Create and update individual assessments for each student with identified inclusion needs using data gathered from a variety of resources including students, parents, staff, district staff and others.
- Consult with program and district staff about accommodations, support and behavior management of students.
- Assist Extended School Services Manager with Local Special Needs Levy budget and qualifying logistics as well as tracking of students for state/annual reports.
- Schedule and participate in parent/student meetings in conjunction with appropriate district and program staff to ensure student’s success in program.
- Identify and assist with implementation of action plan to ensure student success.
- Work with program staff, Coordinators and Manager when necessary in recruiting, identifying, hiring and supervising additional adult support needed for students.
- Participate in program as additional support for student if needed or fill in when subs are not available.
- Identify, train, support and mentor program staff in inclusion needs, matters and positive behavior support.
- Maintain proper documentation of support needed in Extended School Services for each student and ensure appropriate information and individual plans are shared with program staff.
- Visit program sites and observe students with inclusion needs or behavioral issues, as needed.
- Lead trainings with program staff as needed to ensure student success.
- Evaluate each student’s accommodation plan and support as needed.
- Identify practices and procedures and assist in the development of improvement plans that are consistent with district and department guidelines, program goals and health recommendations.
- Meet regularly with and serve as liaison with Lakeville Area Schools Special Education Department as well as Intermediate School District #917.
- Establish relationships with other resources and organizations to maintain cutting edge knowledge of the field.
- Identify needed supplies and /or equipment to enhance program delivery for students with special needs.
- Attend department meetings, district meetings and PLCs.
- Attend professional development opportunities and stay up to date with current trends.
- Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively to parents, staff and students concerning policy, mission and procedure, both written and orally.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, especially with high regards to sensitive or confidential information.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to focus on task on hand and possess excellent attention to detail.
- Must work well as part of team and individually.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours when required which include before school, after school and non-school days.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Extended School Services Manager.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor Degree in Special Education, Behavior Analysis or related field.
- Three or more years experience working with individuals with special needs. Previous experience working with school-age children with special needs preferred.
- Ability to maintain a positive, collaborative culture when supporting individuals with physical, developmental, medical or behavioral special needs.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate activities of children.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Current Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Works directly with and supervises large and small groups of children in planned activities throughout a variety of settings, such as: classroom, cafeteria, gym, computer lab, playground and while on field trips.
- Work with children with a variety of needs.
- Supervises children during transition, breakfast, lunch and snack.
- Assists the Kid Zone Instructor in preparing and implementing the daily curriculum.
- Maintains room environment by setting up, cleaning and storing supplies and equipment.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- 18 years of age, high school diploma
- Training or experience working with children in a group tutorial and supervisory setting.
- Interpersonal skills that lend themselves to a compatible working relationship with students and other adults in the workplace as determined by the coordinator.
- Possess basic academic competencies to provide tutorial assistance to the student(s) as needed.

SCHEDULE:
- Position has varying hours per day / Monday - Friday
- Minimum of 30 hours per week
This position follows the school year calendar, from September to June, with a total of 173 days + field trip days.
SALARY:
In accordance with the Lakeville Education Assistants Federation salary schedule.
- A-1-2, $17.35 - $21.13 per hour depending on experience.

Position Description/Qualifications:- This is a teaching position that assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of school age care and enrichment activities, programs and services to children grades K-5 in a safe and enriching environment.

What You Will Do:
- Demonstrate and assist in teaching basic skills through intermediate-level moves with proper technique.
- Direct warm-ups for beginner levels, assist with advanced level warm-ups.
- Participate in all staff training as requested.
- Abide by all policies and procedures, including completion and submission of all necessary forms, including injury reports.
- Communicate clearly with students and parents.
- Perform other duties as needed or assigned by the supervisor.
What We Are Looking For:
- Previous gymnastics participation, knowledge, and leadership experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with students, parents, and co-workers.

Schedule:
