NEW! Game Day Competition
This year, the Lakeville Cheerleading program is excited to add Game Day to our program! We’re looking forward to joining the Game Day division and bringing even more spirit to our season.
If you’d like more information about what Game Day includes and how it compares to Traditional routines, please review the details below.
Please note: Game Day will ONLY be added to our JV and Varsity Competition Teams at this time. This team is optional for traditional competition athletes.
What Is the Game Day Division?
The Game Day Division in competition cheerleading is designed to showcase what teams do on the sidelines at football or basketball games. It focuses on leading the crowd, building school spirit, and demonstrating strong, clean cheerleading fundamentals.
Game Day routines are meant to feel like a real game environment — energetic, engaging, and spirit-driven.
What Is a Traditional Routine?
A Traditional (Performance) Routine is the style most people think of when they picture competition cheer. These routines are highly choreographed performances set to music that emphasize advanced stunts, tumbling, pyramids, and dance.
They are designed to showcase difficulty, technique, creativity, and overall performance quality.
Differences Between Game Day and Traditional
Why Compete in Both?
Participating in both divisions helps athletes become well-rounded cheerleaders.
- Game Day builds leadership, projection, and crowd connection.
- Traditional builds advanced skills, strength, and performance ability.
Together, they develop confident, versatile athletes who can excel both on the sidelines and on the competition floor.
