Competition Cheer Tryouts

Competition Team Tryouts: Grades 2nd - 12th (2026 - 27 School Year)

Lakeville Elementary (LVE)
Lakeville Elementary Advanced (LVA)
Lakeville Middle School
Lakeville Junior Varsity Traditional and Game Day
Lakeville Varsity Traditional and Game Day

Teams are shaped by factors such as skill level, experience, teamwork, dedication, work ethic, leadership, and attitude.

**Competition Squads require STRONG attendance and a strong commitment to the program. Please review the team descriptions to understand the cost and schedule for each squad. Please note that it is VERY important that the level of commitment is understood before tryouts.

Important Dates:

Clinics: Tuesday, May 5 & Thursday, May 7
(All Dates are required)
Clinic Times:
JV & Varsity Teams: 4:30-6:30 pm
Elementary & Middle School Teams: 6:30-8:30 pm

Register for Competition Tryouts:

Tryouts: Saturday, May 9 | 8:00 am - 2:00 pm
(* More information about the tryout time will be sent out before May 5th.)

Tryout Cheer

Replace Blue and Gold, with "Red xx White"

Replace UCA with "Cats Let's Fight!"

Replace Titan Fans with "Lakeville Fans"

Say Red instead of Blue.

What to Expect at Tryout Clinics:

We will teach and introduce the basic skills required for the season.
Learn the material for the actual tryout, dance, and sideline cheer.
Coach will observe soft skills such as attitude, sportsmanship, encouragement of others, enthusiasm, and overall energy.

What to Expect at Tryouts:

Tryouts will be in pairs (groups of two)
Performed in front of coaches and scored on material
Placement will be announced on Saturday (day of tryout)!

What Judges are Looking for at Tryouts:

Strong Energy - We want to see you smiling and having fun!
A solid understanding of the materials taught at clinics.
Sharp and Correct Motion Placement
Dance - Good energy and performance, making it fun to watch.

How to Prepare for Tryouts:

Attend Open Gyms and all tryout clinics. Ask a question if you're unsure about any areas.
Practice - Many repetitions will be needed for memorization.
Practice in front of a mirror to check your motion placements and overall energy. (Make sure you're smiling the whole time.)

What to Expect at Tryout Clinics:

We will teach and introduce the basic skills required for the season.
Learn the material for the actual tryout, dance, and sideline cheer.
Coach will observe soft skills such as attitude, sportsmanship, encouragement of others, enthusiasm, and overall energy.

What to Expect at Tryouts:

Tryouts will be in pairs (groups of two)
All material will be performed in front of a small panel of judges. Judges will direct you on when to perform each skill.
Placements will be posted Saturday Night of tryouts.
Correct situational cheer (offense/defense)
